You’ve got an ad that’s performing like crazy - you’re getting lots of comments, likes and shares. And now you want to create new ad sets (maybe you want to test some new targeting groups), but you don’t want to start from scratch with ad that has zero comments and likes.
You already paid for all that engagement so you might as well use it to your advantage.
Here’s a quick trick that will let you use the same ad in different ad sets. Can we say hello, social proof???
Step 1) In Ads Manager, pull up the ad you want to use -- one that has performed well and has lots of likes, shares, and comments.
Step 2) Click the ad preview button (it looks like an eyeball) in the top right corner.
Step 3) On the ad preview, click "View post permalink with comments."
Step 4) Copy the 16-digit number at the end of the URL that comes up. This is the ad's Post ID -- you’ll need this in a minute.
Step 5) Now hop over to Power Editor and create a new ad. You'll see a "Use Existing Post" tab just to the right of the "Create Ad" tab. Click "Use Existing Post" tab.
Step 6) You'll see a drop-down list of published posts. And right under that you’ll see "Enter Post ID" link. Click that and past in the Post ID you copied.
And that’s it! You’re ready to go. :-)
