5 Simple Tips for Keeping Your Ad Cost Low During the Holidays…

I heard Jingle Bells for the first time the other day and it’s only the first week in November. It’s  starting whether you’re ready or not.

And if you’re in denial about how fast the holidays are approaching you could end up wasting a lot of money on your ads over the next few weeks…

So here’s the deal -- competition is going to be CRAZY over the next few weeks. All the big guys are going to be spending thousands and thousands of dollars a day on their ads.

And there’s only so much room in the News Feed. More competition means higher ad cost.

So what do you do? Keep reading for my 5 best tips to make the most of your ads this holiday season...

1. Plan Ahead and Expect to Pay More

If you know you have a big promotion coming up in November and December make sure you plan ahead. Depending on your niche, you could pay 2 to 4 times more what you would normally pay. So give yourself enough budget to work with so you can still meet your goals.

2. Double Down on What’s Already Working

Unless you’re working with a crazy big budget, focus on what’s already working. If you have campaigns that are converting, go ahead and put your money on those. It’s really hard to test new campaigns during the holidays so save that for early January when the cost comes back down.

3. Check-in at Least Once a Day

Cost can spike through the holidays so you want to keep an eye on your cost every day. You already know your cost will probably go up, but it’s a good idea to keep an eye on things. Your ads could start to slow down or your cost might spike due to all of the competition.

4. Focus on Your Fans, Email List and Website Visitors

You’ve spent all year building your audience and now it’s time to focus on your loyal followers. They’re going to be the people most likely to buy from you so it makes sense to focus on them.

If you’re spending your budget on cold traffic you could end up wasting a lot of money. So show some love to the people that have supported you all year long.

5. Mix Up Your Creative with Slide Show Ads or Carousel Ads

Slideshow ads are my new favorite ad type. We use them ALL of the time now.

It’s a great way showcase your products or services. And it’s a quick and easy way to create a video that catches the attention of your audience.

Carousel ads are also awesome because they do the same thing -- they just aren’t video.

So get creative and find a way to make your ads really POP in the News Feed.

And if the holidays are just too expensive and you don’t have to run ads -- wait until January. We usually see cost drop back down (and it’s usually one of the least expensive times of year to run ads).
